With so many families in our community facing difficult times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, unstable housing has become more commonplace, and this is a top concern and priority for Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Did you know that Project UP-START is a program through the District that provides additional support services to any student who is currently experiencing unstable housing? This includes students who are sharing the housing of family or friends out of hardship, students living in temporary shelters, public places, or in a hotel/motel.
If you have school-aged children living in an unstable housing situation, please click on the attached form to access the Project UP-START Student Eligibility Questionnaire (FM-7378), and electronically submit the completed form to the Project UPSTART Office by clicking on the “Submit Form” button, located at the top right-hand corner of the page.
If you cannot submit the Questionnaire electronically, please contact your child’s school to inquire about completing the physical copy of the form.
Also, if you know a family with M-DCPS students in this situation, you may share this information. Students who qualify will be registered into Project UP-START and will be eligible to receive additional support services to improve their attendance and achieve academic success. Please visit Project UP-START’s website at http://projectupstart.dadeschools.net for information about the program and services. You can also follow Project UP-START on social media @projectupstart.
